Need help from Texans…?
Question by Jacki G: Need help from Texans…?
I am a Missourian but I have occasion to help a relative in Washington County, Texas. This person has always been a responsible & hard working man taking care of his own obligations. Twenty years ago, he had a bad motorcycle accident (not his fault) which left him with fairly significant brain injuries. Unfortunately, it was not enough to convince him of a need for continuing care over the years. As things got worse for him, he hid it with alcohol & finally drugs. Now living in Texas, he has been granted disability status but is told he can not receive Medicare until 2012. He is to go through rehabilitation first. This makes absolutely no sense to me. He has stopped all drug use years ago and is now a non-drinker. He definitely needs help but is told no one can help him without him paying for it. The man cannot work, he has a wife & child to support, can barely function through daily activities. Memory loss, no skills he is physically able to do at this stage, vision trouble, loss of basic knowledge & skills, general mental instability. Who, in Washington Co, Texas, can he see for help.? His wife thinks she has covered all bases asking for help but insists no one will, in fact the Disability office has even tied up the financial help he was granted & say they don’t know who is controlling that. This doesn’t sound right on any level. Could someone suggest a number to call, name or office to contact, any way this man can get help to put his life back together.

You are going to need a lawyer to cut through all the crap. My father in law had to do the same thing. If you win the claim, they will credit you the back money also.
