My friend is trying to fight cocaine addiction but her husband is still using?

Question by casey308: My friend is trying to fight cocaine addiction but her husband is still using?
My friend confided in me that she has a cocaine addiction. She is in substance abuse counseling and is trying very hard to abstain. We were all at a cookout this weekend and her husband went missing and she later found out he went to score some cocaine. She is very frustrated because she gave in and used again after a month of not using. What advice can I give her?

She can’t do it on her own. It is a good thing she reached out to you – you must be a good friend. Admitting a secret is the first step – shows that she is seeing it as a problem that needs changing.
There are lots of resources to help in her fight. Cocaine Anonymous (CA) is my first recommendation
http://www.ca.org/. They are in almost every city and town. She will find other people like herself battling the addiction – addicts helping addicts.
Also a she might be wise to go into treatment – program range from a few weeks to a few months. The huge benifit is that it separates the addict from their addictive surroundings and breaks the cycle.
A note” If her hubi doesn’t want to change she will have a difficult time of it.
Best of luck – I’ll say a prayer for your friend
