You don’t say what state this is, but being a minor isn’t going to help very much in a charge for manufacturing a controlled substance. The manufacture of meth is considered so dangerous and serious that laws in some states allow for the structure used as a lab to be destroyed, or condemned until cleaned by a hazardous waste crew, and that all future prospective buyers of the property be advised that it was once used for that purpose. Bail for an adult according to the bail schedule in my county starts at million and sentences ranging from 10 – 15 years are typical for an adult.
Being a minor won’t count for much. Being a first offender will count for very little. I would be surprised if the 16-year-old was out before he was 21.
