Methamphetamine or Methadone?
Question by Lady Rhinestone: Methamphetamine or Methadone?
Why do ppl always abbreviate “meth” for methamphetamine when they speak of it? Don’t ppl realize that alot of ppl think you are talking about “methadone” when you say meth. Using the abbreviation “meth” for methamphetamine or even for methadone can be dangerous in many instances. I have never figured out why ppl do that. I have found many professional medical ppl doing the same and they, of all ppl, should know better.

Meth is the medical abbreviation for methamphetamine, where methadone is written out by medical staff, and is used for pain control in hospital settings.

Unfortunately “meth” has become a popular slang term for speed. Methamphetamine is not a prescription drug, so I doubt a nurse would give someone speed instead of Methadone.
