Meth recovery & meds?

A family member suffers from meth addiction. To make things short he was suffering from psychosis and thought I was gonna set him up. I involved the authorities and then he stopped all contact with me because he said I “set him up”.

Well now he has been 3 months sober. He is getting help and taking meds. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder, both caused by his use and most likely will go away. He is enjoying being clean. So far his psychosis is gone, he no longer hears the voices but he still thinks I set him up.

How long do you think it will take for him to come back considering he is getting help and taking medicine?

There is no telling, it is an individual thing. Sometimes we all have to just do the right things even if the person doesn’t appreciate it or doesn’t ever tell us they now see that it was the right thing to do.
You did the right thing, so just know that you did and stop wondering if he will ever be grateful. he may not be., He has messed up his life considerably and it wll be a gift if he recovers.
that is what is meant by ‘virtue is its own reward’.
He may appreciate and thankyou someday, and maybe not.
