This growth is important to Vanderburgh County, which, unfortunately, is a leader in methamphetamine use. In fact, 72 participants in these treatment programs are meth users. Also, 90 percent of those in the Re-Entry Court program say they are meth users.

Our view: We must all be vigilant in effort to find meth labs

The effects of the drug are bad enough — anxiety, psychotic and violent behavior, paranoia and brain damage. Addicts inject it, smoke it, snort it or swallow it, and can die from continued use — if not before. Meth once required several hours of cooking.
