Marijuana addiction in marriage?

Question by Nancy: Marijuana addiction in marriage?
Is it ok if my husband smokes weed everyday? He says he isn’t addicted. But i don’t believe him. Even when he goes out with his friends that all they do. SMOKE POT. Well is that normal? What can I do to try to help this problem… We have tried talking about it many times, he says that it is just a phase that he is going through, and that he will get over it. but I am also starting to see behavior changes during the day when he’s not high. he wasn’t ever rude, and now i feel like he is. Could this be a reason? Any advice?

Well, I guess I haven’t personally tried it, but I’ve heard that it isn’t addictive (physically…psychologically it might be!) But if it is a problem in your relationship, then you need to talk to him. Set boundaries, because you shouldn’t have to put up with this if you do not want to. From what I’ve studied, it destroys brain cells (but lung cells more than anything.) somewhat slowly, but also affects memory, concentration, and mood.

Did he start smoking before you got married? Or did it come on suddenly? If he smoked before you got married, you kind of got yourself into it. If not, then something in him must have changed. Either way, you don’t have to settle for less than what you deserve, and if you feel that he’s being unreasonable…he needs to know this. I wouldn’t exactly go in screaming, but fight for yourself. I don’t think you want to threaten divorce right away…
