Making The Case For Choosing A Natural Herbal Treatment
Making The Case For Choosing A Natural Herbal Treatment
Natural herbal treatment for promoting health and preventing disease is certainly something most Americans should at least consider. There is a good chance that by adopting a more natural approach we as a group would reduce skyrocketing health care costs and the overall health of most Americans would improve.
A bold claim. Let’s look at some facts to drive home this wild accusation. As Americans we tend to spend more than any other country on healthcare but as a nation we are very unhealthy. Over 50 percent of all working Americans have a serious chronic disease such as heart disease, artery disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, cancer, gall bladder disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis or debilitating brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Ironically, it only gets worse in the ranks of the unemployed, with about 70 percent suffering from chronic disease. Oddly, enough state and federal workers who have excellent health care benefit plans are the most unhealthy in the working category.
What is even more disturbing about the number is that these numbers don’t include those over 65. I will give you just one stat before we move on. Approximately 45 percent of adults 65 years of age or older suffer from high blood pressure.
Ironic isn’t it that we have some of the best doctors and the most advanced treatment methods known to man but our overall health is terrible. This can only mean that we have become reliant on reactive medicine rather than prevention, including lifestyle changes and natural herbal treatment methods.
At this point it is difficult to know the right path to take, and never has there been a better example of this than my friend Terry who is in his early 50’s and takes ten medications a day.
He recently asked me about a natural herbal treatment for his high cholesterol problem. I told him that there are some excellent affordable options but he would have to check with his doctor to find out whether or not the natural herbal ingredients would be safe to take with his other nine medications. He consulted his doctor who sternly advised against it. So at this point he realizes that the medications he is taking are making him feel less than stellar but simply doesn’t know what to do about it, and honestly I don’t either.
Many Americans are in similar situations to Terry where their health is poor and their dependency on prescription medications has reached a point where they have few good natural herbal treatment options.
But there is also another segment that are still healthy enough to make changes both in their drug treatment plans and lifestyle. For these Americans considering natural herbal remedies for common problems such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol is something worth considering. By working with your doctor to find smart ways of combining a natural herbal treatment or treatments with exercise, diet, and other lifestyle modification you may be able to avoid the fate that has befallen my friend Terry, putting you on the path to leaving the ranks of the chronically unhealthy.
