Let’s come to our senses, White House Petition?

Petition to Remove Marijuana from Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act.
In the United States, all preparations of the Cannabis plant are currently listed under Schedule I of the controlled substances act. This definition is reserved for drugs which have “no currently accepted medical use”. Furthermore, cannabis’ toxicity is virtually non-existent compared to that of heroin or cocaine, cannabis lacks the high abuse potential required for inclusion in Schedule I or II. Currently, 16 states and Washington D.C. have legalized the use of medical marijuana, and hemp products are sold widely in the U.S. today. The problem with leaving this up to the states is that some citizens may never be given the freedom. Cannabis could be rescheduled either legislatively, through Congress, or through the executive branch.
Let’s unite, peacefully, and finally come to our senses, instead of using irrational reasoning to discriminate against a substance, and hound those who use it.

More important issues..like…the Economy…? Marijuana is approximately a $ 10 billion/year market (Based on estimates conducted by economists). The market in California alone is an estimated $ 3.5 billion/year. We’re talking about creating an entire new industry here. Industries create jobs…we need those I hear. Is that on your important list? Jobs that are created would include growers, dispensary positions, etc. You have to think about the entire picture. And more importantly more than anything..who are you or anyone else to tell me or anybody else what they can or cannot put into their bodies?
