Tuesday, February 23 (New York) As members of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) recently learned, gift wrapping skills can come in handy regardless of the season. About 20 union members kicked off a new partnership to support the charity Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc. (KIDS) by volunteering to wrap donated baby toys that will be given to new mothers in a drug abuse recovery program in Manhattan. The RWDSU is pledging to provide at least 1000 hours of volunteer service to KIDS agencies across the US in 2010 as part of the unions effort to help build stronger communities. The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, UFCW, represents 100000 members throughout the United States and Canada, including 45000 in New York. More information about the RWDSU can be found online at www.RWDSU.org.
