Jasper the Sheepdog’s News Story & Recovery Update on Attack

So here is Jasper on the news. This is when it first happened on New Year’s Day. They did do a follow up story on Fox, but I did not get a chance to copy it yet. Basically they interviewed another daycare that gave tips on how to break up fights and how to manage a daycare properly. They also talked about how to select a daycare. And lastly, they took a statement from the daycare Jasper was at with the owner stating he’d be reimbursing me for the medical expenses – He has not done so yet. Jasper is at home and doing well. He still has a few minor complications, but he has climbed mountains compared to when this first happened. It was the longest 5 days of my life waiting everyday for his update and dealing with the frustration of whether he could recover at all and the fact that he refused to eat or drink for 5 days. He was also on multiple medications, had 12 major wound repairs (rips from the bites- I assume the pitbulls), had a urinary catheter and got plasma – no wonder he didn’t want to eat, drink or walk! On the last day, on our follow up visit, he ate from the vet’s hand. I think he enjoyed the drive from the ER to the regular vet office and somehow he just knew he was coming home. They said that it’s not uncommon for dogs to not eat when in 24 hour care at the hospital. They also said getting past the first 5 days after a major trauma or injury is the biggest challenge and the most expensive. Most dogs don’t get this far. I took a chance – Jasper’s bill is almost …
