Is there a support group for mothers who lost custody of her children?

Question by None: Is there a support group for mothers who lost custody of her children?
Sometimes I feel like I am losing hope that I will get my children back. I lost custody of my children to their father because of an addiction (not drugs or alcohol), but I have my life back together and I am doing very well. My ex-husband has legal and physical custody of our children, but the judge allowed their to say with the grandmother until he goes to get them. It’s going on 2 years and he has not made any attempt to raise our children. My children live in a different state from me and their father. So, it’s like we are playing tag team with our children. He sees them one weekend and I see them another weekend. How long should I let this continue? My children should have at least one parent with them on a full time basis.

People tell me that I can because so many mothers have fallen and gotten back up. So, it would be great to find a support group or someone that I can talk to.

If you have changed your life and your husband has no interest in the children then take steps to prove you want and deserve custody. If possible move to the state where they live and begin visiting regulary. If you cannot do that, then contact a lawyer and seek legal custody through the courts. They will want evidence that you have changed so make sure enough time has passed and you can document the new patterns of behavior.
