Is private insurance the same as Blue Cross and Blue Shield? I am looking to get into a a drug rehab; i am not a druggy but I have this groin problem 5 years ago and now I am being prescribed meds and they are not working and I cant sleep; I am in pain all day with pain meds; I need to get a clean slate; I have blue cross blue shield is that considered private insurance or state insurance; any help would be appreciated; thanks in advance

Some states use private insurance companies as their carriers. It depends on what state you live in. Who provides you your coverage? Does it come through a job or through a state funded agency? If it comes from a job (your work, your parent’s work or your spouse’s work) it’s private insurance. If you are on state assistance it is state insurance or medicaid. You can get more information by going to your state’s healthcare site if you are getting state assistance.
