Is MSN Sniffer illegal?

Question by Frazzle: Is MSN Sniffer illegal?
Okay, I’m not thinking of using it because I know it’s for monitoring chats and that it’s not right to “invade peoples privacy!” But I also know that “MSN Sniffer” is used, or programs like it, are used in schools and workplaces and by parents to check up on their kids / employees. I was just wondering if it is illegal to use “MSN Snifer” because it sounds a bit like hacking to me, which I know IS illegal. (Even though many people do it for a laugh to mess up their friends accounts etc) So, yeah… that’s it… Can anyone tell me if MSN Sniffer is illegal please?
