I had been drinking and doing drugs off and on for 6 years, then quit. Lately I have been experiencing upper right abdominal discomfort, but still have a lot of energy and no other serious symptoms.

It sounds as if you may have the beginnings of an ulcer.A simlpe blood test can check your liver functions.
