If you know where a drug dealer is, should I tell the authorities?

Question by Duelix: If you know where a drug dealer is, should I tell the authorities?
A person I know named Kevin (a fake name) had gotten caught taken meth pills in seventh grade. I talk to him now, and he told me where the drug dealer is. I am surprised that after he went to rehab, he didn’t tell the authorities where he got the pills (they didn’t ask?), but now I know. How come the dealer didn’t get arrested, and should I tell people where he is? Anyone who sells meth pills to a seventh grader deserves to get locked up.
I don’t want to be killed, but is it possible to remain anonymous? I could talk to my counselor, but I don’t want my name to leak out. Leaving a note might work. I don’t know the exact location, but I know in which general area he is.
I also don’t want to look like a snitch if Kevin already told the authorities himself.
Is his general location (around a train station) enough?
Chris, I agree that weed should be legal, but I wanted an answer to my question. Kevin smokes weed also. As to the person who told me to call crime stoppers, I do not know any precise information, just where he generally is (I’m sure police could hide and eventually catch him).

I wouldn’t tell… it’s best not to get involved in these things. After all, the drug dealer might come back and kill you once he gets out of jail.
