If not God, what causes religion?

Question by Contemplative Chanteuse IDK TIRH: If not God, what causes religion?
If religion is the cause of much violence and evil in the world, and man created God/religion – _why_ did man create it?

What is the need that God/religion fills? If you believe that it’s all religion’s fault, wouldn’t it make more sense to treat the need?

If you think religion is an addiction, like alcoholism, do you understand that removing the alcohol doesn’t treat the addiction. The addiction is there because of an unmet need.

What is that need, and how does humanity meet it?

I am not religious and I disagree with you. The problem is not religion causing wars and violence. The problem is the lack of tolerance and respect of other people’s beliefs; the problem is trying to impose by force a religion on people that don’t want it; the problem is thinking that your religion and only your religion is the absolute truth and everyone else will burn in hell.

Again, is not religion, but the lack of tolerance and respect to other people’s beliefs.
