If I wanted to manage a rehabilitation center, what should I major in?

Question by Zombie With Fresh Socks: If I wanted to manage a rehabilitation center, what should I major in?
For personal reasons, I feel that it is my goal in life to help others break free from their addictions. Now, I have this idea of how I would set up the center, and how things would run. Unfortunately, although I know the destination, I don’t know the route. What should I major in, to better prepare me for this field? My declared major is psychology, but as I get closer, I don’t know if this would be the best field of study. Also, I am sure there are numerous forms to fill out to make it a legitimate rehab center. Where could I find these? Any insight is appreciated.

For managing a rehab center you need to have a degree in management, business, finance etc. Unless you just want to own one and work there, if you are going to manage it you will not have anything to do with patients, you will be too busy with paperwork and your employees, all sorts of regulations, etc. That is just the face of management, people think that they can get a degree and open a business is whatever that degree is, but running a business, especially one that requires the employment of licensed medical professionals is not anywhere near that simple. You have to have a business background, because that is going to be your job, not helping patients, that is what counselors do.
