If America used to be a male chauvinist society, isn’t it possible for it to become a female chauvinist society?
Question by Seeker Of Painful Truths: If America used to be a male chauvinist society, isn’t it possible for it to become a female chauvinist society?
I ask because, in, say, the American 1920’s, in society the majority of men felt they were superior to women. That was an entire society. Boys were encouraged to do well, while girls were forgotten. More boys were raised with a self-centered “I’m better than you” mentality, because society caused that behavior by always praising their abilities. As grown ups, they definiflty felt they were above women, and women were taught to accept that and taught to feel beneath men.
It basically caused most men to have a mentality of: “Narcissistic, egotistical attitude with an overwhelming sense of entitlement and arrogance.”
Today, it seems that the opposite is happening. However, when ever someone mentions the possibility of most American women, (more women than men) have this mentality over men, women become offended and act as if women could never adopt such behavior. But isn’t that sexist in itself? To think that one sex is “too good” to have the same negative behavior on the same vast scale?
Isn’t it not only possible, but logical that if one sex gets better treatment, praise, and encouragement over the other sex thoughout their lives, that they will most likely grown up with a sense of narcissistic, egotistical attitude with an overwhelming sense of entitlement and arrogance?
Why would that be only a “male” trait?. It seems more logical that it is a human trait that can happen in a society that favors one group over the other.
Whites had that same mentality feeling they were above blacks. Natzi’s above Jews. One Asian culture over the other. And depending on the culture, men over women, and/or women over men.
So then, why do people try to deny that in todays America, that this could be a possibility? There’s no real science that says American women absolutely have this mentality, but there are many things thats happening to suggest it.
Maybe it is equal across the board in America, and both men and women equally feel they are above each other, and belittle each other.
Thoughts?
gateman – “Talk about a twisted view of history.” Really? I guess white people never believed they were superior over black people either. Not sure where you got your jistory from but it wasn’t reality.
Evie – That make absolutly no sense. Nice random outburst.
