I think I have ADHD and I just have a couple important questions…?

Question by .: I think I have ADHD and I just have a couple important questions…?
Yesterday, I asked a question on here regarding how I could get my hands on some over the counter substances that are similar to adderall to help me with my concentration. I realized today, that for years, especially lately, I’ve been struggling with keeping myself focused when it comes to school work and other activities. I have always done well in school but it’s just been a real struggle lately. I am so flustered with the inability to concentrate that I will go into the bathroom at my school and just stop everything for a few minutes and reflect on everything.

I looked up my “symptoms” and they seem to be signs of Adult ADD/ADHD (I’m 20).
My question is: Where do I go from here? Should I go see a psychologist or a psychiatrist? And what should I expect if I do see a psychologist/psychiatrist?

i have adult ADHD, and take regual medication during work and classes. it really helped me to talk to my doctor (they can percribe you medicne, a therapist wouldent help because it is a medical condition, not a psychological problem.)and explain my symptoms, but some people dont understand that these type of medication dont make you “slow down” or depressed, but help you concntrate even more, this makes me even more hyper believe it or not, but for the right reasons, instead of not concentrating and chatting in class, now im concentraing enough to bang out a 3 page paper. but some side effects can be loss of appetite (you really need to watch how you eat), or increased heartrate (it is a type of methamphetamines).

hopefully your doctor is one that deals with prescribing medications for ADHD, or if not they can point you in the direction of one who can.
