Q.) This morning on yahoo, it was reported that the US customs seized a submarine over the Pacific Ocean carring 5 metric tons of cocaine, but how much is that really?

a.)Determine how many kg of cocaine were on the submarine.

b.)Determine how many pounds of cocaine were on the submarine.

c.) if one g of cocaine is worth dollars, how much was the cocaine on the submarine worth?

d.) 5 years in prison for 5 grams of crack or 500 grams powder….. 10 years in prison for 50 grams crack or 5000 grams powder

Assuming the cocaine was in powder form, how long will the traffickers be sentenced to jail?

a.) 1 metric ton =1000 kgs
5metric tons=5000 kgs

b.) 1 kg = 2.2046 lbs
5000 kgs = 11023 lbs

c) if 1 kg = 1000 gm and
1 gm = 70 dollars
1000 gms or 1 kg = 70,000 dollars
therefore:
5000 kgs x 70,000 dollars=350,000,000 dollars or 350Million Dollars

d.)10yrs /5000gms X 1000gms/1kg X 5000kgs = 10,000 years in prison
