Question by Jean: I have a question about insurance after having 2 appeals, Is there some way that I may the decision appeal?
Our insurance company has denied my appeal for treatment, that will save the company in the long run. My husband has worked with the same paper mill company for 31 years. I have treatment resistant depression along with chronic H/A, the cost to the insurance company is terribly high-they have paid over 500.00$ so far for prescribed medication. The charges for in-patient stays just for this year alone has been more than 13,000? This has been going on since 1981. The therapy and doctor visit has been atrocious. The food and drug company has approved this treatment for TRD and possibly help to defer the cost for them would seem to be the treatment. I have used antidepressants, therapy, shock treatments, chiropy exercise and more The treatment is called a Vagal Nerve Stimulator(it is not experimental. It was mainly used for treatment for seizure, then the results proved to alleviate depression and sometimes chronic pain. The insurance company is B/C, B/S of Alabama through my husband’s .

If your appeal has been denied twice, that means that the insurance company is convinced that the treatment either isn’t indicated or that they believe it is too costly and they won’t cover it. Your only choice is to pay it yourself, or see if the treatment center will offer you a deal to afford it. The insurance company has procedures for just this purpose and you won’t win this one if they’ve reviewed and denied.
