I HATE MY DAD!! ARE ALL DADS ARE LIKE MINE?

Question by pete: I HATE MY DAD!! ARE ALL DADS ARE LIKE MINE?
im 19(in college)..but he treats me like im 5..my mom dont let me move( im living at home)
i never do drugs, drink, party, smoke, bla bla, bla…but yet my dad still doesnt trust me..

im not good in sports(im a clutz),im not as smart as my older sister..
my i still manage to get an upper class..im not manly,my friends majority are girls..but im not gay..
but sometimes i feel that my dont love me..
he always says that im stupid,weak,f*gg,..bla…alot more(you may think he may one me to tough up,but it does hurt sometimes)
matter affect…right now me,my sis,and mom support the family..he lose his job like 4 yrs ago…
and still sometimes..he never like me.he says his proud at me..
but i dont feel that way..he just never admits that he is wrong…if anything that happen at home..he blames me first.
during high school,i never get to go out (doing normal teenager stuff)i go out occasionaly.,i loose alot of friends, because,i hardly hangout with them…now my friends thinks that im anti social

i really have low self esteem..because my dad always says mean things to mean.AND it totaly hurts…,due to this, its difficult for me to socialize..like i feel really akward around people..

now im trying to move on and ignoring him,but sometimes its difficult!!(like im trying to be all happy outside..but is difficult)

IS IT MY FAULT..I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO MAKE HIM PROUD OF ME! AT LEAST DONT MAKE ME FEEL LIKE AN *SS

im really depress..I CANNOT TO TALK THIS MATTER TO ANYONE(BECAUSE I DONT TRUST THEM)

ps;me and my sis, confront to him..like a million times..but he still acts that way..i even do the “silent treatment”,but it works for only a few days

No, not all fathers are like that. I’d say very few are. You are 19, if you want to move, it is your choice to do so, and you should. Getting away from your father’s abuse (because that is what it is) would be the first step in rebuilding your self-confidence. You can continue to offer support to your mother and your siblings even if you are living away from home, but at least you’ll have a refuge away from your father. As for your father, refuse to listen to any of his insults, and tell him that if he wants to have a relationship with you at all, he needs to show you some respect. Follow through.

Please ignore that rude first answerer. He sounds too much like your dad…they should go get psychological help together.
