I am scared for my friend’s mental health, how can I help her? ?
I am really worried about my best friend; her mother keeps pushing her and pushing her. A while back (before I knew her) she had some problems with anorexia, self harm, alcohol and drug abuse. She was in a treatment facility for all of these illnesses.
She is the second oldest of six girls. My friend really does more in one day than I do in a month. My friend does guitar, piano, violin, photography, art, tap dancing, modern dancing, salsa, hip hop, French and Spanish classes all in one week. And she still gets really good grades, but you can see that it is taking it’s toll on her b/c she is underweight and freaks out if she can’t do anything perfect.
Apparently when she was 4 she told her mother she wanted to be a dancer in Michael Flattery’s Lord of the dance and that is why her mother pushes her to do all of these things. She doesn’t want to be a dancer in that show anymore but her mother still makes her do all these things. She never has time to hang out with her friend or for a social life. She’s even told me the pressure to perform is too much sometimes.
