until I get on my feet. Is there some kind of temporary care provider form I can use without having to go through the CA court system. this is a temporary situation and she needs to get her enrolled in school etc. durng my absence?

Just so you understand why I answered the way I did, I AM an attorney and as such, I must advise you that if there is an adjudicated father (either by court order or through an acknowledgement of paternity) then every answer you have been given is going to backfire on you.

Unless BOTH parents agree to a guardianship petition, it is void on its face and the father can take the child from such guardian.
