Question by Sammy: I am bi polar.social services assessed me as too high risk to parent my child. how can i get her back?
i suffered a post partum episode and placed my daughter in voluntary foster care and presented myself for treatment. following assessment social services placing with father, a person with previous drug and alcohol abuse problems, poor work history and broke. I am compliant with meds, have family support and before having child, working. Generally, in spite of bi polar more stable and mature than he is. he is isolated (no family in same country) and feckless in nature, he’s been homeless many times. In my view social services displayed bias and poor understanding of reality of living with bi polar and it’s manageability. My health care proffessionals support me in the view that I would, with support make an excellent parent

If you think you can take care of her correctly then by all means, fight the system. But don’t just ‘think,’ be one hundred percent certain you wont fall off the wagon because this is your child and you cant take chances.
