How to Quit Drinking and Why It Should Be Stopped
When was the last time you had a drink? Did it make you feel good? Did you feel any substantial benefits from consuming alcohol? The answer is probably no. Instead of thinking about when you are going to drink again, think about ways on how to quit drinking.
If you have ever gotten drunk, you know that it makes you do things you would not normally engage in. Being intoxicated disrupts your brain from functioning normally and what’s worse is that it doesn’t end with you simply being drunk – there is also a hangover.
Some drink for fun while others drink to forget their problems. No matter what your motivation for drinking is, forget about it and find other ways to solve your problems. Drowning yourself in booze will not make your dilemmas go away. Perhaps they can make you forget for a while, but when you sober up you will have to face the reality that your problems are still there.
Guzzling down lots of booze with friends can be real fun. It is a great way for guys and gals to bond and just chill. It is also an excellent way to shorten your lifespan.
Alcoholic beverages can cause problems in so many ways. People tend to do a lot of foolish things when they are drunk. They cannot think rationally therefore they often get into situations they would later regret when they become sober.
Some people actually drink just to get a jolt of confidence. Asking a girl you like out or telling someone about your true feelings can perhaps be easier when you are drunk, but they can also go terribly wrong. Not everybody would accept people for being drunkards. Some find it quite unattractive and choose to stay away from alcoholics.
There are a lot of health risks that come with too much alcohol intake. Liver diseases or even liver cancer can be acquired because of drinking. If you are a self-admitted alcoholic, here is a question for you: Do you want to die because of your addiction?
When the time comes that your body breaks down, will you be able to stomach the fact that you are suffering from excruciating pain because of your obsession with alcohol? It is different from having difficulty getting along with your parents or brothers because unlike those situations, you have the freedom to make decisions for yourself with regards to alcoholism.
There are numerous techniques and approaches on how to quit drinking. You could participate in group discussions with fellow alcoholics and seek help from people who share similar problems as you. If you are comfortable talking to your family and friends about your addiction, you may also share your insights with them and ask for their advice and support.
Venturing into a new activity such as playing sports or learning something new will help you distract yourself. By keeping yourself busy with other things, there will be less time to even think about alcohol.
Do yourself a favor and learn how to quit drinking. What would be the point in repenting and changing your ways when the opportunities to do so have passed? What are you waiting for? Go on and reinvent yourself while you still have the time.
