How to interconnect plot lines?

Question by Luvluv: How to interconnect plot lines?
Hi Everyone!
I am in the process of writing a novel about four teens who attend the same school. Every chapter is a different teen. Each teen has a slew of issues from drug abuse, prostitution, homosexuality and suicide. I would like the chapters to connect and the teens to connect but I’m not exactly sure how. I do want to follow them through their entire journey and their recovery. Is it OK to write the four separate story lines or should I be connecting them?

You probably want to have some interaction between the teens (although this can definitely come on gradually). Otherwise,the reader might end up wondering what they all have in common, and why their stories are in one book, not four.
