How should i go about telling my boss and my college teachers that i need a week to get off drugs?

Im addicted to painkillers (roxicodone) and its a nightmare to get off them. Im sure its not nealy as bad as getting off heroin but its comparable to a lesser degree. It takes about a week to a week and a half to be able to function like a human being again. During the time i am getting off these drugs i will not be able to attend work or school. Not attending for a week means getting fired and getting dropped from my classes (already used up allowed absences).
My boss and my teacher wont neccesarily fire me if i give them a valid reason. My valid reason portrays me in a light that i would rather not show my boss or teachers. How am i supposed to ask them for this time off to detox? Do i just say “im a drug attic and will be going through withdrawls and cant come to class?”. How can i say it in a way that maximizes compassion and lessens bias? I dont know how my teachers will react, I do not know what types of views they have on addictions. I think this greatly effects their response. I need them to allow me to take this time while at the same time making an exception to not fire or drop me because of it. I have to be screwed up enough to have to take a week off and at the same time, sweet enough to persuede them into not dumping me? How do i do this?
