How should I explain to a friend that they’re being a complete turd?

Question by Joan D: How should I explain to a friend that they’re being a complete turd?
A ‘friend’ of mine (I am now using the term loosely) has a history of drinking too much, and, once every two months or so, disappearing for a longish time on a crack cocaine bender.

Teen-aged junkie he is not; this is a middle-aged white collar dude who should know better. If curious, here’s a link to another question about him (feel free to answer it, too): http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Anu1ufUYRbuD2pZ9qchEeLvsy6IX?qid=20061217014321AAQSVHM

Anyway, he/I thought he was settling down. He’s now expecting his first child, and has been doing well for a while.

Last night, he went out “to the pub for two beers,” and came home at 6am after visiting a crackhouse.

Some input from pregnant women on how to explain to him _why_ this is so wrong would be appreciated. I’m expecting a lot of ‘but I didn’t hurt anybody but myself,’ etc. And, what would you do if you were his wife? I take it she doesn’t want to leave, but maybe he needs ‘consequences’ at this point?

i would definitely leave if my hubby was doing crack! if he ever gets caught with it, and he will, that’s a huge child endangerment case and they will get their child taken away.
