How long does beer and other alcoholic beverages keep?

Question by roflcup: How long does beer and other alcoholic beverages keep?
I’m wondering if I can drink some old beer. This might sound completely nasty but it’s for sure 3 years old. I’ve heard that whiskey keeps pretty much forever (is this true?) so why not other alcohol, lol? Or wouldn’t you recommend it? I don’t have time tonight to go into town to get a 6pk and I’m kind of in the mood for a brewski. It’s been sitting in the bottom cupboard forever.

Just for future’s sake, how long does alcohol usually keep? (Beer, wine, whiskey?) Thanks for the help.

beer and whiskey go bad in about a year but wine can keep for many years at the right temperature
