how long does a person stay “under the influence” of Methamphetamine?

Question by yesmyhappiness: how long does a person stay “under the influence” of Methamphetamine?
If a person has meth in their system, how long are they under the influence of it? Does under the influence mean the same thing as being high on it? Are there any real science or medical facts that will back your answers? And what about the legal aspect of it? I know it varies from state to state. But how do the courts distinguish between under the influence and just having it in their bodies. (Sometimes form 2-3 days earlier)?

Laws and science differ when it comes to the definition of ‘under the influence’ for example- you can be considered under the influence of marijuana if there the composites that your body makes when it breaks down thc found in your urine or hair- this can be months to years after the fact.

There is nothing near the intelligence or foresight regarding ‘under the influence’ charges for recreational drugs other than alchohol. In the war against drugs- the truth was the first casualty, and in any war fueled by religious rhetoric- hypocrisy becomes a very clear victor.
