How does one become a substance abuse counselor without degrees?
I am a 36 yr old man who spent almost half of my life in prison. As a child I ran the streets and for several years I abused drugs and alcohol. Since then I have gone through recovery and taken several non-degree courses in substance abuse, anger management and cognitive intervention. I would love to pursue a career in substance abuse counseling, helping others who are going through the things I once went through, but unfortunately, I do not have a college education, nor the means to acquire one. I would be grateful for any suggestions anyone may have that would steer me in the right direction.
