How does a person become addicted to alcohol?
Question by Missi: How does a person become addicted to alcohol?
I know alcohol addiction is real. However, I’ve had hundreds of drinks and been drunk on many occasions – but I am not addicted to alcohol. I don’t ever feel the “need” for it and I can’t remember the last time I had a drink. I always decline it if I’m not in the mood (and I’m usually not in the mood). My friends are all the same way. I’m pretty sure if I tried heroin, tobacco or meth 100 times then I’d surely be addicted to that. But with alcohol, not really. So how come some people become alcoholics?

It’s more phychological then chemical.
Say for example you are a shy person, you go “oh I’ll just have some booze and feel more confident etc.”
Then you do it again and again until you feel you can’t function socially without it. It becomes a need.
