How do men experience love?

Question by Karolina: How do men experience love?
I’ve been reading a lot lately about this topic, whether it is in theory-philosophy or in literature. There is always this talk about that allconsuming feeling of utter dependence and devotion one person has to the other. But this is only talk and always seems to me like it is a paragraph taken out of sone kind of heavy romance. I find those idealistic descriptions hard to believe. Because let’s face it, in every novel it’s the same. The hero falls madly in love with the heroin and can’t live without her by his side anymore.
But how is it really? How do men experience love? Really experience it? Are they even capable of the depth of feelings it requires to want to sacrifice everything for the other person? Is love for men the same as it is for women? Does it show the same “symptoms”? If I’d be to judge only by how my brother behaves, I’d sure say they aren’t capable of the degree of emotional devotion a woman would put into a relationship.
But because I want to believe that that’s not the case, I would like for a member of the male population to explain to me that enigma that is the process of falling in love. So could you, please? I know that every single person experiences it in a different way, but I would really like to see your take on the matter.
Just one request: please don’t use cliches of the likes of: you can’t breathe when she leaves the room and the sum rises from her asscrack. That’s just fake to me. I would really like the true whole experience from a man’s perspective.
Thanks in advande!
