How do I get a bad kid to leave me alone?

Question by : How do I get a bad kid to leave me alone?
Today my mom made me play basketball with this older kid because she was too tired to play anymore. When she goes away, the kid and I start shooting hoops and start talking. The things I found out astonished me. He sells marijuana, he’s done cocaine, ecstasy, acid, heroin, crystal meth, pretty much every drug I’m aware of. He’s also involved with the bloods. He tells me he’s done drive-by’s, stabbings,”put kids in the hospital”, and been to juvenal prison quite a few times. He tells me “Don’t get on my bad side.” So after he tells me al of this, he asks if we can hang out. I don’t want him to kill me so I say “sure” reluctantly. He comes over my house, and I ask him about his parents. He tells me, “I was adopted. But before I got adopted I was abused.” Now, I feel bad for him. He asks me just then If I want to come over his house, which is right down the street. I don’t want to piss him off so I say “yeah.” We play more basketball at his house, and I make an excuse that I have to go do chores. We say goodbye, and I go home. Now, I’m terrified. I don’t want to hang out with him, but I also don’t want to hurt his feelings, or worse get on his “bad side.” What do I do?
It’s possible he could be lying, but I really don’t want to test his bluff.

I’ll bet he’s lying to impress you. He sounds like he’s full of it. Look at his arms: do they have lots of scars inside the elbow? That would be where he would shoot heroin. Look for needle marks. Also, ask where his stabbing scars are: if he stabbed other people, he’d also have scars where he’s been stabbed (although if he was abused badly, he’d have scars from that).

So, to handle this, suggest you play at your house when your mom is around. See what she thinks of him. Tell her he seems troubled and may have been in juvenile hall. She can talk to him and see if he really seems like a criminal — in that case, she’ll keep you away — or if he’s just a scared, lonely kid who makes things up because he’s full of fears that no one will like him.
