how can you be passionate about the idea of letting other people control you and spend your money?

Question by Jess: how can you be passionate about the idea of letting other people control you and spend your money?
I’m contributing monthly to my retirement and my kids 529 college plans. I worked hard to do so.

Why should I pay for someone who bought a new $ 35,000 car every 3 years or whatever instead of contributing like they should have, only to saddle their kids with both their education bill, and the cost of supporting their parents from age 60 to 90, or saddling me with all of it.

Why should I bail out the California couple who paid $ 875,000 for a 20 sq ft closet in LA, only to be shocked when they cant make the monthly payments, and cant take out the equity in their house every other week to fund family vacations, plastic surgery, and backyard makeovers. Real estate values don’t always go from $ 875,000 to 1.3 million in 2 hours.

Why should I fund the health care of the 400lb, smoking, welfare mom who sat in the back of the class throwing spit wads and chewing bubblegum, while I actually tried to pay attention, only to have the privilege of earning enough to support us both?

Why is government considered a magical source of never ending money when they don’t produce or make anything. They only have money when people like me are forced to give it to them. After then having taken my money, they give it to all the irresponsible people in the name of compassion, and social justice, because I’m not paying my fair share, while the poverty stricken high school dropout, shotgun wedding, knocked up alcoholic doesn’t pay a dime.

Why does it “take a village to raise a child” when half of the villagers are all living on my income anyway. When I live in Illinois, give my money to Washington, only to have them inefficiently use it to fund an abortion for someone in Wyoming, or buy more ribeye steaks for the 400 pounder living in Arizona who is scamming the food stamp program, or has been on “disability” since they were 19 because their idiot mom used meth all through the pregnancy.

Why cant the government stop being the middle man in me paying for somebody else. If I’m required to send money to someone, maybe I can just make the check out directly to them. Maybe I can start sponsoring people like we do those starving kids in Africa. Lets run some commercials, I bet they would be good.

If we are going to do all this in the name of compassion, people need to recognize my compassion for people which is that I’m not going to force anyone to pay for me as I go through life. I am self sufficient. I understand short term hard luck situations, but not 20 year long short term hard luck situations. Sometimes compassion is telling somebody: “Hey, idiot, you need to quit sucking at life and actually start contributing SOMETHING because I’m tired of dragging people like you through life”
