How can I ease off of Painkillers?

Question by : How can I ease off of Painkillers?
I have been on Lortab 7.5/500 for three weeks following a particularly nasty tonsillectomy.

Anyways recovery was extremely painful so I was on liquid Lortab. I am feeling better but want to ease off the painkillers. I hear that the withdrawals can be pretty unpleasant.

You may think I’m nuts, but I really want get off of prescription painkillers. I hate feeling sleepy all the time and I am also getting concerned over the amount of acetaminophen I have been putting into my system.

Go and ask your doctor for help.
“In order to limit or avoid withdrawal symptoms, you should not stop taking Lortab cold turkey. Your healthcare provider can slowly decrease your dose at a rate that helps minimize withdrawal symptoms (most healthcare providers will be more than willing to help you stop taking Lortab). Remember, withdrawal is not necessarily a symptom of abuse, and you should not be embarrassed to ask for help in this matter.
