How can I change my mind when I’m determined to do something I don’t want to do?
Question by : How can I change my mind when I’m determined to do something I don’t want to do?
I need to know how to play the same game my subconscious and addiction want to play on me. I have weighed up to 50 pounds more than what I weight now. I have lost the weight and kept it off for about 3-4 years -with only minimal relapses into binge/over/compulsive eating. Now, I’ve gained back 10 pounds and can’t seem to turn myself around again. I feel like subconsciously I’m determined to binge and get fat again; as if subconsciously I’ve already decided that I’m going to gain the 50 lbs, you can’t stop me…type of thing. Completely irrational, I know. Completely confusion, of course. It’s the typical case of an addiction, and I am desperate because now that I’ve gotten into the “inertia” of binge/over/compulsive eating again, I can’t lose this momentum. I don’t know how. Because I’ve struggled with eating issues for so long, I’ve tried everything from Overeaters Anonymous to medications and everything in between and I am consistently in therapy and have a great counselor whom I see weekly. So its not that I’m just focusing on the “symptom” and need to get to the deeper issues. I AM working through those issues. But I’d rather not be a fatty while I’m at it. I need to know how to play the same game my subconscious and addiction want to play on me. What games can I play to un-commit and un-determine to gain all this weight and binge?
