Help Quit Drinking in Your Community
If you come from a community full of alcoholics, you know what kind of problems too much booze brings. With that in mind, you should be the spark that ends the madness and help quit drinking in your area of responsibility.
The issue of alcohol consumption is a very tricky one. In the United States, people over the age of twenty-one are allowed to drink. Despite the fact that there is an age limit, teenagers somehow manage to get their hands on beer or any other kind of alcoholic drink.
Curiosity may lead them into wanting to try it themselves. After all, there are hundreds of ads showing how drinking is cool and should be done by adults. It is part of a company’s marketing strategy but it gives a wrong impression on the youth.
There is a notion that if you drink alcohol, you will look cool. That is probably one of the reasons why teens would kill to get their hands on some beer. For others, it is not simply about impressing other people.
It is a form of escape from the stressors of the real world because alcohol is a form of depressant and can numb one’s emotions and hinder a person’s ability to think rationally. If you are drunk, you are able to forget about reality and enjoy a carefree existence, at least until you become sober.
As a responsible citizen, you should do your part by helping alcoholics in your area. Help quit drinking habits by others by informing them of the risks like liver problems, hangovers, doing idiotic things while intoxicated and etc.
You should most especially reach out to the youth and explain that they do not have to cave in to the pressures that society places on them. Just because people in the movies and commercials are drinking doesn’t mean you should too.
Explain how drinking can cause people to vomit and feel terrible afterwards. Alcohol makes people do stupid things that they will come to lament in the future. Some teenage pregnancies can be attributed to alcohol intake. Since they get this confidence boost because of booze, they engage in things they are not supposed to be doing and regret it for the rest of their lives afterwards.
Life is about having ups and downs and the challenge comes in how you respond to the problems life presents. Trying to merely escape through drinking will not solve your woes. The real world will haunt you again once you snap back to reality and regain consciousness.
Campaigning for an alcohol-free world may not be such a bad idea. However, it should be noted that there will be people who will object. They will most probably argue that people have the freedom to make decisions themselves. Your job will not be to tell them what to do but rather, inform them of what the effects of drinking are and what it will lead to.
For people who want to help make a better tomorrow, starting small by spreading information to help quit drinking in your area is a good way to start. You may think that little actions such as these will not matter but when added up, small deeds by many individuals will make a huge impact in society.
