I know zip about pcs so please bear with me…

I have an acer travelmate 4150 laptop. I’ve had it for roughly two years now and is was used mainly for surfing the web, word and excel. no games, nothin “big” installed.

I was working on excel one day and i left it for a few minutes. when i came back, the screen was blank and it says: blahblahblah/Path/SYSTEM/blah.dll is corrupt and it says i should insert the start-up disk…
Problem: i dont have the start-up disk…

i got this system in malaysia and im in the us right now so will then put a wrench in the solution?

i made a few searches and found a “Acer pro-recovery CD” which “says” it will recover my files as well…
i have the xp cd, can i use that?

so…
should i buy the recovery cd
or is there something else i can do?
