Hello, I have been using heroin for about a year?
Question by The Gooch 131: Hello, I have been using heroin for about a year?
Hello, I have been using heroin for about a year and recently quit about 60 days ago. I was doing ok but my cravings have increased significantly and a friend offered me some of his suboxone. I really helps alleviate the craving. I am afraid to ask for a prescription because I am technically not in withdraw but I do want it for the cravings when I have them. Is this possible? What remedies exist to alleviate opiate cravings after the physical withdraw?
Thank you for your help

You should see a doc and get your own prescription of the suboxene. STAY AWAY from methadone. That is addicting. Suboxene is less addictive because it supposedly does not cause the same high as heroin, but when you stop using suboxene, you will feel a little bad. But that is better than going cold turkey which is tough on heroin addicts. STAY AWAY from your old druggie friends and old drug hang outs. This will be tough, but there are many steps necessary if you really plan on winning this fight. You have to drop contact with your old world and create a new one. Go to a 12 step and see an addiction counselor as well READ UP on addiction through books at Barnes and Noble. No need to buy the books. Just take it and sit in the store and read it. DON’T GIVE IN. Life is short buddy!!
You don’t want to be 85 looking back and regretting all the wasted time and years that Heroin took. Get clean, stay clean, and as hard as it is, realize as much as you love some of those friends that use, they will only lead you back down the rabbit hole.
