Half life, metabolites, and drug test questions. How do they work?

Question by kodeine: Half life, metabolites, and drug test questions. How do they work?
When it comes to drug tests,I was wondering how you determine the true time you would be clear of a certain drug when it fact is a pro-drug whch metabolizes into other drugs. For example meth would be a pro-drug since it metabolizes into amphetamine and others..I will use this as my example for the rest of my question.

Since alot of websites, let’s say erowid.org shows meths detection period in urine is 2-4 days. Then it says it’s metabolite, which is amphetamine is detectable in urine for up to 5 days..

Now comes my question, how do u determine the true length u will be negative for a drug like this which has metabolites which are detectable?

Let’s say I consume 1000mg of meth.I say this to make it easy.this is a very very lethal dose of meth. Anyways let’s say I do 1000mg of meth, how much of that is metabolized into amphetamine? 50% or 500 mg? The half life of meth is 7-15 hours, after that 15 hours does that mean after the half life the meth is metabolized into amphetamine? That’s what has me confused

can u explain how this works to me I way I tried to state it?
