Friend contemplating suicide, asked for help. What do I do?

Question by Taylor: Friend contemplating suicide, asked for help. What do I do?
I have a friend who took a lot of Zyprexa last night, she said she took what she had left….9 40mg pills. She was hoping it would kill her but she ended up passing out and puking all night and more again this morning. But she called me and said she wants help and wants me to go somewhere with her. Should I just take her to the ER? A treatmeant center? She does not abuse drugs normally….she does party and drink a lot. She has had a lot of past issues and this recent event was due to her boyfriend breaking up with her, among other things. She is 27 and had “attempted” suicide several times….all I think more cries for help. But since she asked me to take her somewhere I want to make sure its the right place. I know she wont do in-patient treatment….and I am not sure if she will even stick with any type of program. If I take her to the ER will they force her to stay since she took a bunch of pills? It was last night so I dont know if they will make her stay or not. HELP!

I’m not sure if they will keep her or not, but please do anything you can to help her. Even if people are joking around about it, it becomes such a repeated thought that they actually end up doing it. She needs some sort of help, maybe “starting over” in a new city or something to get things off of her mind.
