French books to read on Kindle?

Hello,
I’m studying French right now and downloaded a French-English dictionary for my Kindle. Its the perfect set up because I can instantaneously get the translation for any words I don’t know. I downloaded one issue of “Le Monde” and can basically understand it but its definitely tough. I was hoping to get some recommendations for books that might be slightly easier for me to understand but still something that interests me. I like fiction and won’t bother to go into my likes and dislikes there because its too complicated and I’m probably limited on fiction that will be easy for me to understand. I usually can get into non-fiction more though when it is something that interests me. Some of the topics I have enjoyed reading about in English are: military, social justice, drug abuse/recovery, religion, outdoors (trekking, mountaineering, etc), Africa (esp Francophone Africa and more specifically Senegal), and anthropology. Those are just examples but I’m open to any and all suggestions and could probably provide some more guidance about what I might like if anyone has tons of recommendations or something.

Any ideas?
