For Massillon resident Dovie Smith, God turns around a life of drugs, disability and abuse
Dovie Smith was 14 when she smoked her first marijuana joint. It was the first in a series of choices that sent the Massillon resident’s life spiraling out of control. At first, Smith turned to drugs to numb the pain of mental and physical abuse. Later, she became addicted to crack cocaine in search of that ever elusive high.

Toledo serial killer tied to Atlantic City murder
A man, who in 2006 confessed to killing five women in Northwest Ohio between 2000 and 2005, has been indicted in a 1987 Atlantic City murder. Dellmus Colvin was originally charged with killing Melissa Weber, 37, and Jackie Simpson, 33, both of Toledo. According to prosecutors, both were prostitutes addicted to crack cocaine. Weber was murdered in 2003 and Simpson in 2005.

Victim’s son takes stand
