Experience with umbilical granuloma?

Question by zowi420: Experience with umbilical granuloma?
Umbilical granuloma is when the baby’s cord does not heal properly and the stump does not fall off completely, leaving behind a small piece of flesh in the babys belly button.
I have read about 3 treatment options: silver nitrate, ligature, and plain rubbing alcohol. Does anyone have experience with any of these treatments? How long does the rubbing alcohol treatment take to work?

My pediatrician used silver nitrate at the office. Although it turned his bb black (which she said would happen), It washed off in a few days… I would suggest talking to your pediatrician to see what they recommend. They may want to bring them in to make sure it’s not infected.
