Exercising
Exercise is very important. It not only makes us stronger and healthier physically, but mentally as well. It is helpful in all aspects of a lifestyle and can stimulate the mind and help relieve stress. A sedentary lifestyle will only cause a person to gain weight and feel more stress as well as increasing the chances of getting an illness such as heart problems.
So why aren’t more people exercising? Most people know the benefits of exercising, and yet some never do and unfortunately, there are a number of reasons for this. For instance, a person may be used to a sedentary lifestyle and cannot therefore get into the habit of exercising. Some people really want to exercise more but don’t feel motivated enough while some may try, but they don’t do it right and only make themselves sick. Instead of learning to do it right and trying again, they simply give up.
And then there are those who truly wish to exercise, but just do not seem to “find the time”. What they don’t realize is that all it takes is ten minutes of walking a day to get started. Walking is probably the easiest form of exercise and can be done with friends or a dog to keep them from getting bored. The good thing about walking is that it can be done anywhere! A person can hike through the woods, walk to the store and back, walk around the store, walk up and down steps, walk to work instead of driving, etc…
As was mentioned, it only takes ten minutes a day to get started. If a person can get into a habit of walking just ten minutes a day, after a bit of time they may even find themselves jogging the weight will start dropping off. It doesn’t happen overnight, but it will.
Walking may be the easiest form of exercise but it isn’t the only one. Swimming, bike riding, yoga, playing sports, and dancing are fun ways of exercising and a lot of people are surprised at how much fun can be had while swimming or dancing. There are many dance classes available and for those who prefer dancing by themselves, mp3 players are just the ticket! Some people find that dancing around their house while cleaning up can be a fun experience as well as good exercise.
If you wish to start exercising, just remember to start out slowly. You can’t expect to go from the couch to running a marathon within a week. You’ll have to build up your endurance over time and the more you can build yourself up, the more weight you’ll lose and the healthier you’ll become. Remember to drink a lot of water while exercising, even if it’s only a ten minute walk. You don’t want to risk dehydrating yourself. Don’t become discouraged if you can’t work out as much as you want to as any exercise is better than none. If you can motivate yourself into walking ten minutes one day, then it will become easier to motivate yourself for subsequent days.
Over time, exercising will become a daily routine for you and you will start working out without having to think twice about it!
