Entire Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force earns Officer of the Year honor from Rossville Exchange Club

Mar 03, 2009 The Rossville Exchange Club awarded The Jimmy Sampley Officer of the Year Award to the entire Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force last Thursday. Each member of the drug task force is highly qualified, trained and dedicated to aggressively quieting the drug wars in North Georgia, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said. The winners include Tommy Hedden of the Dade County Sheriffs Department, Allen Miles of the Catoosa County Sheriffs Department, Patrick Doyle of the City of LaFayette Police Department, David Gilleland of the Walker County Sheriffs Department, Lori Willingham of the Walker County Sheriffs Department, and Dewayne Brown of the Walker County Sheriffs Department. Larry Black is the task force commander. The agents find the labs, stop the illegal meth production, dismantle the labs and prosecute the offenders, Wilson said. Wilson and Catoosa County Sheriff Phil Summers announced the winner of the award together as well as the 39 previous winners. According to Wilson, the task force led the state last year in clandestine methamphetamine lab seizures. It takes a special commitment, a team effort and a willingness to consistently perform at a high level, Wilson said of what it takes to be in the task force. Wilson said members of the task force have to miss family outings and events due to the nature of the forces work.
