Drug detox during pregnancy?

My Best friend and I are both pregnant both 20-24wks she has an addiction to pain killers(oxycodone and Vicodin) she said her DR. knows and he told her that detox could cause her to lose the baby. Is this really true?If so where can I find some info to support these findings(on the web) because honestly it just doesn’t sound right to me?Is she just telling me this so I will lay off?
